A Taste of the Unexpected: KC Kwang & Sons Farm

kc wang farmer

Started by his father about more than 50 years ago, KC Kwang & Sons, also known as Twin Diamond Plantation, is a true family business that specializes in tomatoes and various other botanical and vegetable produce. Mr Kwang’s farm is nestled amidst the misty embrace of Kampung Raja in Cameron Highlands, on approximately 60 hectares of land sprawled in the Blue Valley region.

A Bit About Mr Kwang

When Mr Kwang’s father started the farming business, he was just a mere boy but he regularly helped to manage the farm together. After schooling hours and during school holidays, he would take the time to assist with proper soil preparations, planting and sowing of crops and all the way to harvest and post-harvest management, all while completing his studies in finance and economics at university. Fast forward to today, his son would now also have a hand in the family business.

Upholding Transparency Practices

KC Kwang & Sons have the farm open to visitors and here they can catch a glimpse of vibrant cherry tomatoes bursting with flavor, pristine white radishes and fresh Japanese cucumbers waiting to be transformed into delicious dishes, and various leafy greens that add a touch of freshness to any meal. The farm operates with a philosophy of responsible agriculture, ensuring that all their produce is cultivated using sustainable practices.

For those curious about the journey from seed to table, KC Kwang & Sons offers a fascinating glimpse into their packing process as well. Adjacent to the sprawling fields stands the farm’s packing factory, a place where one can observe an impressive conveyor belt system that sorts and packages the freshly harvested bounties. Witnessing this organized chaos will surely provide a deeper appreciation for the effort and precision that goes into bringing fresh produce to your tables.

Let’s take a dive into the crops that KC Kwang & Sons are known for.

Round Cherry Tomatoes – Aruru
Small, sweet and high in Brix levels, +/- 15-25g/pc. Vibrant red color adds a pop of cheer to any dish.
Japanese Cucumber – Kyuri
Slender and elegant, around 8-10 inches with thin and dark green skin. Fresh and crisp texture and the absence of large developed seeds is an advantage. High in vitamin K and C and a good source of hydration.
White Radish
Slightly peppery flavor that mellows out when cooked. White and smooth skin that is crisp and white. Can be consumed raw, pickled, stir-fried, or made into soup or kimchi.
Pearl Brinjal (Eggplant)
Sweet and soft-skinned, grade A quality size and texture with a sheen on the surface. Best consumed with the skin and can be grilled, stir fried or steamed.
